Tours

The Museum of Wildlife and Fish Biology is not generally open to the public, but organized groups (school classes, home schoolers, retirement clubs) of any age may make advanced reservations to visit. Please read below for more information.

Outreach Events

  • MWFB at the Cal State Fair, Monday Aug, 31, 2009, 12PM to 9PM. "Discover California's Wildlife" with the MWFB at our mini-museum exhibit. Click here for more info.
  • Bird Walks at Cosumnes River Preserve. Join MWFB ornithologist John Trochet as he conducts monthly surveys of the Tall Forest. Click here for more information.
  • Thursday UCD Arboretum Walks.

Tours for UCD staff, faculty and students
We encourage and welcome tours for UC Davis students and courses (lectures and labs), student organizations, and staff groups. A guided tour can be tailored to a specific topic or theme. At this time, there are no fees for groups within the UC System. Please contact our Collections Manager, Irene Engilis, or Tabatha Yang to schedule a visit.

Tours for the Public
The Museum of Wildlife and Fish Biology is not generally open to the public, but organized groups (school classes, home schoolers, retirement clubs) of any age may make advanced reservations to visit. Tours cost $3.00 per person, with a minimum of $30.00. Please look through our calendar of scheduled tours and outreach events below to find an opening that works for you. The collections are closed for public tours on Mondays and Fridays. Due to our dynamic schedules days that appear available may not be. Tour Topics
A guided tour can be tailored to a specific topic, theme or interest. Most tours provide an overview of the history and scope of the collection. We explain the different ways we prepare specimens and the importance of maintaining collections for scientific research. We try to make the tours engaging and we welcome your questions and curiosity.

Location

Parking
There are several parking lots within walking distance of our location. They include several lots along La Rue and the campus South Entry Parking Structure. Click here for an interactive campus map, or here for a PDF map to the closest parking locations to our building.  Parking at UCD costs $6/day per vehicle, and the rate is subject to change. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the parking pass dispenser machines located in each parking lot.  Buses are advised to park in South Entry Parking Structure, located south of the Mondavi Center at the intersection of Old Davis Road and Hilgard Lane.
